[Rumor] Jadeveon Clowney Interested In Signing With Saints And Cowboys

Jadeveon Clowney, one of the top free agents of the 2020 class, remains unsigned as NFL training camp draws closer.

The first overall pick from the 2014 draft played last season with the Seattle Seahawks, recording three sacks and four forced fumbles in 13 games. Few, if anybody, could have expected that Clowney would remain unsigned for this long.

But the 27-year-old has patiently waited things out, and there's been no shortage of interest in his services. A new report suggests that if Clowney gets his wish, he'll end up with a Super Bowl contender in 2020.

Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network (h/t Lindsey Wisniewski of NBC Sports Northwest) reports that the New Orleans Saints and Dalls Cowboys are "on top of Clowney's list", in regards to "where he would like to end up"

Pauline noted that the teams are up against the salary cap, and it would take a lot of work to fit Clowney in. Pauline is also unsure if the Saints and Cowboys want to sign the three-time Pro Bowler.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Seahawks offered Clowney a one-year contract worth $15 million. Clowney also reportedly turned down a massive offer from the Cleveland Browns, who were one of the most active teams in 2020 free agency.

Drafted first overall by the Houston Texans in 2014, Clowney has been one of the game's most productive pass rushers and turnover artists when healthy. He recorded a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2017, and nine in the 2018 season. The Texans traded Clowney to the Seahawks before the start of last season, and he played a key role in helping them reach the postseason.

Given his age, career resume and excellent pass rushing skills, it's no surprise that Clowney has drawn plenty of interest on the open market. It won't be long until he finds a new team, but it's anybody's guess where Clowney will sign.
